My everyday makeup routine

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

After posting a quick time-lapse Instagram story of my everyday makeup routine I decided to do a whole blog post about it giving more specifics! Im going to go through start to finish every product I use and how/why I use it. Everything will be linked!

Every morning I cleanse with Cetaphil daily facial cleanser. I love this cleanser because it is a gentle, everyday cleanser for normal to oily skin. I was previously using Aveeno Clear Complexion foaming cleanser- and I think I'm going to switch back to that because it contains Salicylic Acid- which I need to help fight my occaisional acne.

After cleansing I moisturize with CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. I let that set in for a few minutes and then prime with Revlon Photoready Pore Reducing Primer. I put more on my nose then I do the rest of my face because of the large pores on my nose. I then will spray a little NYX First Base Primer Spray over my whole face.

Next it's time to color correct my acne scars' and any red blemishes. I dot a little bit of NYX HD Photogenic concealer in green on top of each red spot--a little goes a long way! I press it into my skin with a small brush instead of rubbing it on with my finger. After that I dot a little concealer on top of the green areas--going right from the green concealer to foundation makes a grey-ish color and its just not good so that's why you need concealer first. So, I go in with my favorite concealer: L'Oreal Infallible full wear concealer in Eggshell. I use the same tiny brush to press in the concealer. You should barely see any green after this step. Then, it's foundation time-- I use two foundations currently. I was using L'Oreal Infallible 24hr full wear foundation (in ivory 410) since it came out sometime last year, however, with my acne scarring I need more of a full coverage foundation. After researching, I started using Revlon Photoready Candid foundation (in buff 120). I love it, but I have these major forehead lines that I have always had and it doesn't sit well with them...it's hard to explain but it makes them very noticeable--unlike the L'Oreal foundation. So now I mix the 2 and I love it!

Almost forgot! The foundation brush I use is from Amazon (10$!!) and it's just as good as the Morphe brush! It is the Kashima flat top kabuki and comes in two sizes (Lg and regular). I think the regular size works perfect. After foundation I go in with my same concealer on my chin, nose bridge, t-zone, under eyes, and any red areas that still peek through. Then I use Maybelline's Fit Me Loose Finishing powder in fair light 10. I have a set of Kensie brushes from Tj Maxx that I love and it has the best/fluffiest powder brush. Sometimes I'll use some bronzer but it depends on the day! It's just a drugstore bronzer I've used for years and I'm not even sure of the brand. I always will use blush though-- I use Marykay blush in rogue rose. I will also use highlight most days on my cheekbones and under my brows. Highlight is Colourpop super shock in flexitarian--it's soo good. Highly recommend!!

Last steps are brows and lashes! For my brows I used Anastasia brow wiz for years until I got sick of paying $25 for an eyebrow pencil and tried drugstore brands until I found the best one. I now use Wet n Wild micro brow pencil in medium brown-it's $4 and amazzinggg. I use brow wax after the pencil to keep the hairs in place- E.l.f shape and stay brow pencil. If I am doing eye shadow I usually use my Naked 3 palette. For mascara I use L'Oreal voluminous original in blackest black- my favorite! For setting spray I use NYX matte finish- both the NYX primer spray and setting spray are my favorite and such a good price.

This is my everyday routine andit takes me about 15/20 minutes. I use mostly drugstore makeup-- I have tried the bigger brands like Tarte, IT cosmetics, Urban Decay.. but I find the drugstore brands really do work the best for me! Any questions?
